About Our Team

Who is The MUDT?

We are the official dance team for Miami University representing the university by promoting school spirit at home football and basketball games, performing at campus-wide events, and competing at the annual NDA Collegiate Competition in Daytona, FL. We compete in the D1A Pom and Jazz divisions.

Our motto is “DTheart” which encompasses our team values: teamwork, accountability, adaptability, passion, work ethic, commitment, and teamwork. The Miami University Dance Team is a continually evolving program that strives for greatness and is a force to be reckoned with.

  • What divisions do you compete at Nationals? 

    The Miami University Dance Team competes in the D1A Pom and Jazz categories at NDA Nationals.

  • Are you a part of Miami University Athletics?

    The Miami University Dance Team is an official club sport. The team participates on the sidelines at football and basketball events, attends various campus-wide events, and competes in the D1A division at NDA Nationals every year. 

  • How many hours do you practice a week?

    The team practices are Mondays 8:30-10 pm, Tuesdays and Thursdays 7-10 pm, and Sundays 4-7 pm. *Please note practice times may be subject to change each year.

  • Where can I find tryout requirements?

    Technical team requirements can be found on the Recruitment page.

  • Do you have to have high school dance team experience to make the team? 

    High school dance team experience is not required, though all members come from differing dance backgrounds at the competitive level. 

  • Can I try out for the team even if I am a sophomore in college? 

    All dancers with acceptance/attendance at Miami University are eligible to try out.
